For most of you today is a regular Sunday- however, for me, this day is anything but regular.
You see today for me was a very different type of Sunday.
I am sure everyone has their own peckel and, often I spend time listening to other’s worries and fears.
Please indulge me as I would like to share with you my own personal peckel.
This morning, my son Tuvia and his entire reserve was reactivated and early this morning he reported for combat duty along with the rest of his unit.
Where exactly he is serving Hashem and the Jewish people through his service in the IDF I do not know.
However, I do know that he is in an active fighting unit on the front lines against the modern day Amalek who want nothing more than to decimate and anhiliate every Jew irrespecitve if they identify as a Zionist or if they are as anti-Zionisic as Hamas.
It makes no difference what you identify as to the axis of evil which is poised to attack the Jewish people.
As long as the person is Jewish they are fair game for the haters of Israel to be targeted for anhilalation.
Therefore, Tuvia and his fellow heroes will be engaged in the supreme Mitzvah of keeping the Jewish people alive.
He will be joining the ranks of thousands of other Jewish heroes who fullfill the Torah obligation of Milchemes Mitzvah and defend the Jewish people from our present day enemies.
We all know, irrespective of which flavor of Orthdox Jewry you allign yourself with, that when someone is in a health-danger your first call is to Hatzalah and only after calling Hatzalah, do you reach for the Tehillim.
So too, the first action we must take against those that are actively attempting to kill us, is to defend ourselves.
Who are the first line of defense against those that are attempting daily to wipe all Jews off the face of the Earth?
It is the brave soldiers of the IDF fulfilling the Torah obligation of Milchemes Mitzvah.
Tuvia is a wonderful husband and the father of three wonderful girls.
Yet, today he left his family, donned his uniform, picked up his gun and went off to defend the Jewish people.
He is not content to let others do this precious Mitzvah in his stead.
Tuvia is 36 years old.
Tuvia is my hero.
Please daven for him: Tuvia Nissan ben Yehudis and ALL of the soldiers who are defending ALL of us.
Thank you for letting me share with you my own peckel.
Now do you realize why this Sunday is different from all other Sundays for me?
